Brilliant 3rd place at UK Masters!
Monday 9 June 2014

Evesham AC junior, Sally Gilder, claimed a brilliant 3rd place at the UK Master’s held at Lilleshall National Sports Centre. This is an invitation event for archers having made Master Bowmen or Grand Master Bowmen in the previous season. Sally, although still a junior, achieved senior scores and senior Master Bowman to compete in this event, she was also the only junior competing with seventeen of the top lady recurve archers in the country.

Saturday was very wet, but Sally shot a competition personal best score of 603 for the WA 70 round. In the head to head matches Sally saw off former England archer Louise Colville and shot strongly in the semi final to lose 4-6 to another England archer Antje Fortscher. Paulette Mills, also an England archer, took the lead in their bronze medal match, winning the match from Sally 7-1.

On Sunday, in very windy conditions, Sally again finished 3rd in the Ladies WA 1440 round scoring 1213. Two third places and a fourth place gave Sally a well deserved third place overall.
