National Championship win for Alfie!

On Sunday 6th July, 13 year old Alfie Wilkes, who is a member of Evesham Archery Club, Deer Park Archery Club and March Hare Field Archery Club, competed at Lilleshall National Sports Centre, Shropshire, in the Junior National Outdoor Archery Championships.

Alfie became the Under 14 British Champion with a winning score of 1280 on a Bristol 3 Round, that consists of six dozen arrows at 50 yards, 4 dozen arrows at 40 yards and two dozen arrows at 30 yards. Alfie hit, 136 Golds out of a maximum of 144, beating his closest competitor by 22 points (11 Golds).

By being a member of the Compound County Team, Alfie also won the National County Trophy together with Connie Healy and Holly Clifford with a combined score of 3810, thus becoming Compound Team Champions.

Alfie has been competing in archery for the past four years and is also the current Under 14 British National Indoor Archery Champion.

Alfie has now been approached by the Archery GB Academy, and is currently competing in Classification Rounds above his age group, to obtain selection shoot qualification scores, in order to represent his country at an international level.
