Silver performance in Moscow Friday 25 July 2014
Sally Gilder has returned home with a junior women's team silver medal to her name following an impressive performance in Great Britain colours at the Youth Cup Second Leg in Moscow. In the individual event Gilder was ranked 19th after the qualification round. This consists of shooting 72 arrows at the distance of 70m scoring 592 the highest ranking GB junior lady, then going through to the H2H stage where she came 17th overall.
In the team event the junior girls recurve team were ranked 6th after the qualification stage and slowly climbed from there defeating Mexico and Italy on the way. Sally Gilder, Philippa Taylor and Caitlin McCarthy clinched the silver after being defeated by a strong Russian team on home soil in the gold medal match.
The 17-year-old Evesham Archery Club star was thrilled to win a medal as part of a British squad which claimed 12 overall as the juniors continued their fantastic form.
